Spacey Jane have returned with their first new music since their acclaimed debut album Sunlight was released last year, sharing new single ‘Lots of Nothing’.
The latest from the Fremantle four-piece builds on a lot of the groundwork they introduced with Sunlight – pairing an effervescent musical buoyancy and shimmering melodies with considered, introspective lyricism.
“‘Lots of Nothing’ is about wrestling with the parts of yourself that you don’t like and how you can see those traits as a whole other person,” explains singer Caleb Harper. “It’s about trying to accept all the parts of yourself, good and bad, before you are able to work on the person that you want to become.”
The new single arrives shortly after Spacey Jane have wrapped up an extensive, 27-date national tour in support of Sunlight – read our review of the band’s Newcastle leg here. It culminated a huge year for the band, which saw them release their debut to critical acclaim and place four times in this year’s Hottest 100 – with fan-favourite ‘Booster Seat’ slotting in at number two.
‘Lots of Nothing’ arrives alongside an accompanying video directed by longtime collaborator Matt Sav. Watch that below.
