After rumours emerged earlier this week, Kanye West has confirmed new album Donda will arrive this Friday (23rd July). West shared the news in a Beats by Dre commercial that aired during Game 6 of the NBA Finals, featuring American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson. The ad also features a snippet of a new song called ‘No Child Left Behind’, which will presumably appear on the forthcoming record.
Coinciding with the confirmation, West has also wiped his Instagram account clean except for one post. The images in the post feature close-up shots of with the names of his children, Saint and North West, and Chicago, his hometown.
Earlier this week, it was reported that a listening party for the album took place in Las Vegas over the weekend. West’s label Def Jam went on to tweet “YZY SZN”, and it was later reported that Ye has booked another listening party for Donda in Atlanta this Thursday (22nd July). According to the new ad, the listening party will also be streamed live online through Apple Music.
Donda, named after West’s late mother, will be Yeezy’s 10th studio album, following on from 2019’s Jesus Is King. Listen to ‘No Child Left Behind’ via the Beats by Dre commercial below.
