Late last week it was revealed that a free jam-packed digital event called The Long Weekender would stream a slew of archival festival sets today (Monday, 14th June).
A celebration of Victorian music hosted by industry legend Myf Warhurst, it was revealed sets would be taken from festivals like Falls Festival, A Day on the Green, Meredith, Golden Plains, Brunswick Music Festival and more. The six-hour livestream also boasts a truly stacked lineup, with sets from the likes of Courtney Barnett, Alex Lahey, The Cat Empire and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard all set to be broadcast.
“I’m so chuffed to be involved in the Long Weekender as it’s the festival we can all enjoy from home, ata time when we literally can’t go to a festival,” Warhurst commented at the time.
“Not only is this the perfect way to support our much loved local musicians when they need it the most, Victorians will get a necessary dose of live music recorded at some of the biggest and best festivals in this state. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the immense talent we have here in Victoria and get primed for a time when live music will once again be accessible to all, artist and fans alike.”
The Long Weekender has now kicked off, and is viewable here via ACMI’s streaming platform Cinema 3. If you’ve missed anything – no dramas. You’ll be able to pause, rewind and fast forward the event to your heart’s content between now and midnight tonight.
Plus, set times have now been revealed, along with which festival footage has been drawn from for each band. You’ve got the likes of Archie Roach at A Day on the Green, The Dirty Three from Meredith, The Teskey Brothers from Queenscliff Music Festival and King Gizz from Summer Sounds to look forward, just to name a few.
Check all that info out below, and get to reliving sets from some of your favourites now.
