Baker Boy will conduct his largest Australian tour to date this November and December, with tickets on sale later this week.
After four years of consistently excellent singles, last month Baker Boy finally announced details of his debut album. It’s called Gela and it’s set to arrive on Friday, 15th October through Island Records Australia. The Yolŋu rapper will be celebrating the album release with a run of major shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Darwin, Fremantle and Brisbane.
“Gela is who I am,” Baker Boy said of the upcoming album. “And it’s my story.”
Baker Boy first made waves with the 2017 singles ‘Cloud 9’ and ‘Marryuna’. Both songs appeared in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2017, with ‘Marryuna’ peaking at #17. The artist born Danzal Baker has kept the feel good singles coming ever since, collaborating with the likes of Sampa the Great, JessB, Dallas Woods along the way.
Gela will feature guest spots from Uncle Jack Charles, Thando, Yirrmal, Lara Andallo, Jerome Farah and G Flip. The latter appears on the record’s latest single, ‘My Mind’, which now has a brand new music video. You can check that out below, along with all the details for Baker Boy’s five-date album tour.
“It feels like [Gela] has been a really long time in the making, but I’m glad I took my time because it is a much better body of work for it!”
